November 1st 02:47
VERSE 1: Dale: It's November 1st, thousands of people madly writing NaNoWriMo. For some an adventure and others frightening Fifty thousand words to write in thirty days First the kick off party but should I stay? Val: It's November 1st. This NaNoWriMo will be the best! Parties, socials, organizing. A municipal liaison can never rest I've done this now four years to date. Maybe this time I'll write. Wouldn't that be great? Jill: My very first NaNoWriMo How many words will I write? I don't know So nany people who are writing I find it all exciting! SPOKEN (Rick): IT'S NANOWRIMO (CHEER) R: It's November first! So amazing Can't keep up my mind is racing. I hope you're ready, be prepared to stay You're in for a treat because NaNoWriMo's underway CHorus Rick: NANO - WRIMO NaNoWriMo's here gonna get things done NANO - WRIMO I hope you're up for crazy cuz NaNoWrimo has begun! R: It's November 1st V: Much to Do! J: What will I write! D: Will I get through? ALL: I hope I'm ready I can't stop now We'll make it through this month somehow! NANO - WRIMO NaNoWriMo's here gonna get things done NANO - WRIMO I hope you're up for crazy cuz NaNoWriMo has begun! Na-na-na-na-na-no WRI- MO!

VERSE 1 Just think how every year we tackle this together Creative forces joined! We'll meet this task And nothing's ever stopped us Why everything's the matter It's just a little hurdle, we'll get past. Can you hear it calling Tugging at your brain Unfamiliar stories in your mind Can you feel it burning That desire for the word What fascinating schemes will you design? CHORUS Let's see that writing spirit All ideas visualized I've seen your brain a buzz with thoughts And plots crystallized Caffeine will fuel our drive Distraction cannot bar our way We'll put that pen to paper And triumph every day! VERSE 2 The words must be written A world put to page There isn't time for critics or for doubt Realms to be discovered Annex that domain Toast your inspiration, give a shout The lure of the outline! The coaxing of the muse! Your fingers moving furiously over keys Brainstorm twisty characters Conjure lurid settings If not for Nanowrimo, where would we be? CHORUS Let's see that writing spirit All ideas visualized I've seen your brain a buzz with thoughts And plots crystallized Caffeine will fuel our drive Distraction cannot bar our way We'll put that pen to paper And triumph every day! (CHORUS)

Pressure 02:53
This was an event Of anticipation I'd mark every day and I waited But now in November There is no elation For no single word has been generated Success every year Admiration of peers "Amazing" was what they concurred. Now I skip writing sessions Else they'll hear my confession That I can't drum up a single word And there's Pressure So much pressure to write And there's pressure They ask every day How I'm doing Just a personal challenge But it bothers me so And it doesn't amount to anything They all ask for my wordcount And I say "I don't know" Then I leave before their incessant questioning And I remember how it used to be It was fun, a bit crazy, and made for me But each day I dread A blind spot in my head I don't see the point, cuz all I see CHORUS Is the Pressure They ask me every day And there's pressure And I don't want to say… END: This was an event Of anticipation I'd mark every day and I waited But now in November There is no elation For no single word has been generated

Lovely Day 03:00
LEAD-IN: It’s a lovely day To be outside With my trusty ukulele I just sing about Whatever strikes And hope that people walking by Might be entertained VERSE 1: That man there with great moustaches He looks like a pirate Don’t worry though your secret’s safe with me I won’t tell anyone you’re walking To the store to buy some flowers Instead of sailing on the great big sea Oh lady over there beside that tree Your son looks pretty serious The way he’s staring at the pretty birds And I bet that he’ll grow up to be A famous ornithologist Or someone who really, really likes birds Hey I recognize you you're from Nanowrimo What's your hurry, Dale, don't go Dale spoken: OH! Uh... Jill.. Right? The man has got it right! Your memory is good If you want to join in - you should Dale spoken: No, that's ok. What are you doing? Just a little improv uke! Cheers me up a lot Give it a try cuz you don't look so hot Dale spoken: uh.. Thanks? But no thanks, that looks hard End in a vowel, or end on ing Why don't we improv on nano writing! Dale spoken: no definitely not that! I sense a bit of consternation But there's no need for indignation! Dale spoken: heh, pretty good... D: I could try to stump you with a rhyme J: I've got all day, so... Anytime. D: You play just here? Or anywhere else? J: I gig at night, but by myself D: Maybe I should come to your show J: I'm not doing any during Nanowrimo! D: Oh right... J: but stop. Your turn to try D: but I can't do this. Not an improv guy! J: You're doing great! And looking good to me D: But I'm glad you set a low enough key J: this is what I'm missing. We should make this a thing D: I can't keep this up! It's hard to sing! D: I think I'd better go. J: but it was going so fine. D: Maybe I'll see you  D&J: Again sometime?

Cannot Edit 02:16
VERSE 1: There is a drive within you that strives for perfection While good for surgeries and giving injections But you need to write words if you're doing nano Don't stop to erase them, else you'll break creative flow I know you cannot help to correct your mistakes But you have to press forward, whatever it takes That curly red underline is tempting To fix Stay stalwart, keep on going, that is the trick PRE-CHORUS: Cannot afford to right all wrongs Don't go back. Continue on! CHORUS: (you cannot edit) You can't hit backspace (you cannot edit) Don't try to be neat (you cannot edit) Forgive your errors (you cannot edit) And don't delete (you cannot edit) VERSE 2: There is that inner critic that berates you till you quit It's a nuisance, you'll do better when you learn to ignore it Work on something else if you get in a rut It's not like people care when you screw things up PRE-CHORUS: Edit later. You don't have time right now. You wanna win I'll tell you how. Chorus (you cannot edit) You can't hit backspace (you cannot edit) Don't try to be neat (you cannot edit) Forgive your errors (you cannot edit) And don't delete (you cannot edit)

D: Hey. I like what you have written J: Really? You're just being nice D: No, this character's engaging And here… I like this plot device. D: But wait this part here ends abruptly J: I gave up there in frustration D: No worries… what if... we write in this? J: Brilliant! Now she has motivation! D: I can't believe this, where is that block? Now look how ideas flow J: He gives form to what was babbling talk Transformed to poetic prose. CHORUS Where were you? When I was lost on page two If I'd known I'd have knocked on your door You're the one D: I've been missing. J: My life's now begun. I wish I ... had met you before. VERSE 2 D: You could add a character here J: I like that a lot D: And maybe you need a confrontation J: And that would fix the plot! PRE-CHORUS J: Where does he get all these ideas from? D: I've never written with anyone D: My past attempts J: have been for naught J&D: I can't believe this chapter's done CHORUS: Where were you When I was lost on page two If I'd known I'd have knocked on your door You're the one D: I've been missing.
